The Peace Foundation undertakes and funds music, dance, drama and visual arts projects that relate to human rights, social justice and environmental sustainability.
Our objectives are:
1) Promoting and educating the public on: peace and justice, the reduction of injustice, racial tension, oppression and discrimination and the care of the environment
2) Increasing the understanding and cooperation between various groups
3) Supporting the rights of indigenous peoples
4) Supporting projects that enable people and communities
For example in 2016 a grant went to the Yalata Anangu community which coordinated the gift of a sculpture (Tree of Life: Gift of Peace) to the Nagasaki Peace Part (Japan). See link http://nuclearfutures.org/sculpture-gifting-nagaski-peace-park/. This was linked to "Nuclear" exhibition at Tandanya http://nuclearfutures.org/nuclear-arts-showcase-at-tandanya/
We give an award each year at the Adelaide Fringe for a work of art, be it theatre or whatever, which we judge best promotes the ideals we stand for.
We continue to promote the Kaurna Walk, a pleasant stroll through Adelaide’s historic sites taking in places of significance to the Kaurna People.
