How to report your cards lost or stolen when overseas.

How to use my card while traveling?

Pay and withdraw money with your Visa Debit Card or Visa Credit Card at any overseas ATM, EFTPOS or financial institution displaying the Visa logo.

You can also withdraw money with your rediCARD PLUS at any overseas ATM displaying the PLUS logo.



What do I do if my card is blocked?

We monitor your card’s activity to keep your account safe. If you haven’t let us know where you are, or we notice strange activity on your account, we may block it temporarily to be sure you’re protected. 
Call our fraud team on +61 2 8299 9534 to unblock your card.

In some cases you may experience connection issues with overseas ATMs and EFTPOS and you may need to retry at a later time. Though call our fraud team on +61 2 8299 9534 if you’re unsure.

1. Regularly check your balances and ‘funds on hold’

We’ll do our best to keep your card safe, though check your accounts regularly in the App or in Internet Banking and call +61 2 8299 9534 to report any suspicious transactions.

2. Keep your cards and money separate

Make sure you keep your mix of access to your money separately to ensure you have a backup in case anything is lost or stolen.

3. Check your receipts carefully before signing

Make sure you know what you’re paying for, and keep your receipts until you’ve checked your statements. Register for eStatements today to get your latest statements sent to your nominated email automatically.

4. Don’t allow merchants to take an imprint of your card

Most merchants should use electronic means of processing your card information, instead of taking a manual imprint of your card. Otherwise, pay in cash to keep your card safe.



What if the ATM requires my card to have a 6 digit PIN?

Simply enter ‘00’ at the start to make your PIN 6 digits. For example, 1234 would be 001234.



How much can I withdraw from an ATM?

You can withdraw a maximum of AU$2,000 per 24 hours with your Visa card. Find out more about our fees and charges here.



What is People’s Choice Secure Code?

You’ll need to be registered for People’s Choice Secure Code to bank while you’re overseas. The best option is to download the People’s Choice Mobile Banking App and follow the prompts to register. If you’re leaving your smartphone behind you can request a $20 Personal Access Token to take with you.

When will I need Secure Code?

You’ll prompted for a Secure Code when trying to perform a ‘high risk’ activity, such as paying someone for the first time, or paying a bill through BPAY.



How does Secure Code work?

Your Mobile Banking app will generate a push notification asking you to ‘accept’ or ‘deny’ the activity. You can access a 6 digit Secure Code in the App’s menu under ‘Secure Code’ without wifi or access to mobile data.



I’m trying to bank overseas and I haven’t registered for Secure Code, what do I do?

You can register your People’s Choice Mobile Banking App, if your mobile data is turned on for your Australian mobile that is linked to your People’s Choice membership.

Otherwise, you’ll need to call 618 8305 8305 (8am-8pm ACDT) to speak to our team to receive a one-time passcode.
